This book focused on Katie, Georgia, and Alice, three friends who participated in each others' hen nights. The book gives a flash of the hen nights from each woman's first marriage and fast forwards to the present mess they have made of them. Katie, the sweet school teacher, is divorced and dating someone else. She has decided she doesn't want to get married again, but her world gets rocked when her boyfriend proposes. Alice, single mom living in the country, was publicly humiliated by her famous husband while pregnant, finding out from paparazzi that he was seeing someone else. She fled to the country with her baby to try to make a new start. Georgia, tabloid writer, played a large role in Alice's demise and is hardened to the ways in which she ruins lives. When she meets a small town doctor, she starts to realize that she is not the person she wants to be.I thought this book was a cute story about friendship and women and the ways in which we need each other. Katie and Alice rely on each more than either does with Georgia, but there is still a connection there. I think the friendship aspect of the novel was good and well done, and the author illustrated many times how important it is to have someone on your side.As for relationship building, I think that was done well, too. Katie has to get herself sorted and decide if she wants to marry Steve or not, and the journey of their relationship is more about Katie's own journey. Georgia also learns a lot about herself and about what she wants from life, and she has to determine if her hardened outer shell is really what she wants. For Alice, she has to come to terms with what Jake did to her and how he abandoned her, and she has to decide if she is going to be able to forgive him and try to make it work or cut ties.Overall this book was a good read. I think it did a good job of illustrating female friendships and relationships, without getting too over the top. I would recommend it to fans of the British chick lit genre.
