One of those books you can't put down, once you start reading it. So Well written and even if your not a Rittenhouse descendant you'll like it. The book, also updates you on our Country's History, ( at times I wish I'd have paid more attention in school.) But that's probably because the way it was taught, it all seemed boring, but this book explains it, and having the characters in it, makes it come to life. I understand there is to be another volume, I can't wait for that. I would recommend this book to anyone, and I'm not and never have been a great reader. But this holds your interest.

As a Rittenhouse descendant, I was excited to see this book. I like how the author made it in novel you a sense of what it really might have been like to be a part of the family back in their own time. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I read a little bit of the book and enjoyed it, but people need to realize this is just a novel. It’s not real family history. I certainly cannot vouch for the accuracy (or inaccuracy) of everything, but there is a glaring mistake. Maria Christina Rittenhouse did not marry Peter Stephens. His wife was named Maria Christina, but she was not a Rittenhouse. This has been an error that has plagued genealogy for generations. Maria Christina Rittenhouse married Casper Johannes Jansen. This has been verified on several occasions by the head of the Rittenhouse Family Association.
